AIR TRAVEL TO COMOX

Our charter base is located in Comox, BC on the east coast of Vancouver Island. Arrange your international flights to Vancouver (Airport Code YVR) and connect to Pacific Coastal Airlines or Central Mountain Air to come directly into Comox (Airport Code YQQ).  The flight time from Vancouver to Comox is approximately 25 minutes.  Check out their sites for flight schedules and fares.

WestJet has direct flights daily between Calgary (Airport Code YYC) & Comox (Airport Code YQQ) and Edmonton (Airport Code YEG) & Comox.  For details on schedules and prices, please check out their website at www.westjet.com or call 1-800-538-5696.

Kenmore Air Express has daily return flights between Campbell River Airport (Airport Code YBL) and Seattle Boeing Field (Airport Code BFI).  These flights are scheduled to run between June and September.  For details on pricing and schedules, please check out their website at www.kenmoreair.com or call 1-800-543-9595.  Contact Sky High Shuttle Service at www.skyhighshuttle.com or (250) 339-4737 to make arrangements for the 45-minute drive from Campbell River to Comox.

Private planes can fly into Courtenay Airpark (250) 334-8545, only minutes away from Comox.

AIRPORT SHUTTLE SERVICES

Vancouver International Airport/Downtown Vancouver

There is convenient and frequent service between the Vancouver International Airport and Downtown Vancouver.  The Vancouver Airporter departs from the arrivals level (Level II) of both the domestic and international terminal buildings of the Vancouver International Airport.  Check out their website at www.yvrairporter.com or call (604) 946-8866 or 1-800-668-3141 for details.

Seattle/Vancouver

In Washington, the Quick Shuttle Service runs from the SeaTac Aiport, Downtown Seattle and Bellingham Airport to Vancouver, BC.  In Vancouver, the service runs from Downtown Vancouver, the Vancouver International Airport and South Surrey to Washington.  Check out their website at www.quickcoach.com or call 1-800-665-2122 for details.

FERRY/CAR TRAVEL TO COMOX

Vancouver/Nanaimo (fastest route from Seattle)

There are several ferry services available to Vancouver Island. The Tsawwassen to Duke Point (Nanaimo) ferry leaves south of Vancouver every 2 ½ hours starting at 5:15 am until 10:45 pm. The crossing takes two hours and it is a 1 1/2 hour drive from Nanaimo to Comox. The Horseshoe Bay (West Vancouver) to Departure Bay (Nanaimo) ferry leaves every 2 hours starting at 6:30am to 12:30pm and 3pm to 9:00 pm. Crossing time is 1 hour 35 minutes and upon arrival at Departure Bay it is a 1 1/4 hour drive north up to Comox. For more information on ferry crossings and reservations please check out the BC Ferries website at www.bcferries.com or call 1-888-223-3779 (Canada & US).   The August long weekend (typically the first Monday in August) is the busiest weekend on the BC Ferries and we strongly recommend that you make a reservation if travelling around this time.

Port Angeles/Victoria

The Port Angeles to Victoria ferry, MV Coho, is available on a daily basis. The crossing is approximately 90 minutes. Anacortes/Sidney

The Anacortes to Sidney (Victoria) ferry sails once a day in the spring and fall and twice daily in the summer months. Then there is a 4 hour drive north up to Comox. Seattle/Victoria

There is no vehicle ferry service directly between Seattle and Victoria. Discover more about the beautiful City of Victoria.

FERRY/TRAIN

This might be an option for those flying into Seattle, WA. It is a bit of a trek but can work for some. There is a passenger only ferry from Seattle to/from Victoria called the Victoria Clipper.  Check their website at www.victoriaclipper.com or call: toll-free 1-800-888-2535; Seattle (206) 448-5000; Victoria (250) 382-8100 for more details. The crossing takes 4 1/2 hours. Plan to overnight in downtown Victoria. Then the next day take the Via Rail train 1-800-561-8630 (email www.viarail.ca) to Courtenay (only 15 minutes from Comox). Train departs daily at 8 am from downtown Victoria and arrives in Courtenay at 12:30. On arrival, call Comox Taxi (250) 339-7955 for a quick 15-minute trip to our main office. Return trip leaves Courtenay at approximately 1pm, and arrives in Victoria around 5pm. Overnight in Victoria and catch the Clipper back to Seattle the next day.

FERRY/BUS

The bus depot in Vancouver is downtown. Take a bus to the Horseshoe Bay ferry. On the ferry you can arrange to take a bus to downtown Nanaimo then connect on another bus to Courtenay. Check with your local Bus Depot or call Greyhound Courier Express at (250) 334-2475.  Comox Taxi (250) 339-7955 will pick you up at the Courtenay bus terminal for the 15-minute ride to Comox. The trip from Vancouver to Comox takes approximately 5 hours.

ISLAND LINK EXPRESS BUS-COMOX/NANAIMO

IslandLink is now operating an Express Bus several times daily between the Departure Bay Ferry Terminal in Nanaimo and the Comox Centre Mall in Comox and a couple of locations in Courtenay.  For more information and details of their schedule, please check out their web site at www.islandlinkbus.com or call them on their toll-free number 1-877-954-3556.

AMBASSADOR SHUTTLE

An alternative transportation to / from the Comox Airport is the Ambassador Shuttle at (250) 339-5252.  They can handle up to 7 people with luggage.

SKY HIGH SHUTTLE SERVICE

Another alternative transportation to / from the Comox Airport, as well as Campbell River and the Comox Valley, is the Sky High Shuttle Service at (250) 339-4737 or www.skyhighshuttle.com.  They can handle up to 7 people with luggage.

ARRIVAL

Desolatin Sound Yacht ChartersCHECK IN:   If you are travelling by plane, train or bus, call Comox Taxi or one of the other services and they will pick you up for the 15-20 minute ride to our MAIN OFFICE.  If travelling by car, please proceed first to our MAIN OFFICE at #101-1819 Beaufort Avenue, where we will finalize your paperwork and give you a time for both your yacht orientation and chart briefing.

CHART BRIEFING:  All chartering skippers are required to attend our one hour Chart Briefing.  During the briefing we will give you a thorough orientation to acquaint you with cruising the area and the services available.  You will be advised of the highlights, points of interest, and emergency information, as well as the dangers of the areas.
